Givaudan Shines a Light on Sustainability Initiatives

Givaudan has released its 2018 Sustainability Progress Review, shining a spotlight on the advances made during the company’s first full year of its ‘A Sense of Tomorrow’ initiative.

Highlights from the three focus areas include:

Sourcing for Shared Value

  • 24 key raw material categories are now sourced in a responsible way
  • 78% of the company’s direct suppliers achieved site audit compliance

Innovating Responsibly

  • The flavor division made strides in alternative proteins
  • Fragrance division innovations included new scientific methodologies and sustainable beauty compounds

Acting for Our Environment

  • A 13.9% decrease in absolute terms of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions
  • 69.4% of the company’s electricity now comes from renewable sources
  • A reduction in water use by 24.4%; the company carried out its first water footprint assessment that includes the value chain
  • CDP A- leadership level for GHG emission reduction and water stewardship
  • A position on the CDP’s Supplier Engagement Leader Board
