Kaden Changes Name to Symrise BioActives

Kaden Biochemicals has changed its name to Symrise BioActives, reflecting a more direct connection with parent company.

The Symrise AG unit, which now has its own website, is also sharpening its profile as an independent supplier of plant extracts, rare sugars and specialties. As reported, Symrise acquired Kaden in 2006 in order to gain a stronghold in the functional food and nutraceuticals market.

The unit said its new biofunctional ingredients have applications in the market for food supplements, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and diagnostics. As an independent business unit, Symrise BioActives said it can react in a targeted manner to the "particularities of the food supplements market." It is therefore sharpening its profile as a provider of diverse products that complement the Symrise portfolio.

It now has its own website. Symrise BioActives has grouped its plant extracts division under the umbrella brand Actiplants. Its specialties business comprises highly purified natural substances for food supplements and special applications for the fields of cosmetics and diagnostics. Symrise BioActives also offers a range of rare sugars for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.

“We changed our name from Kaden to Symrise BioActives in order to make the added value generated for our customers by this merger more visible,” said Stephan Hillers, managing director of Symrise BioActives GmbH in Hamburg.

“Among other areas, we are working closely with our parent company’s highly specialized analytics division and with its carefully trained regulatory experts,” Hillers added. “We are currently expanding our expertise in botanical extracts from red fruits. Also, we are developing new product concepts."
