Senomyx Extends Cadbury Gum Flavor Deal

Senomyx has extended for one year its research and license agreement with Cadbury Adams for the "discovery and commercialization of new flavor ingredients in the gum confectionery area," according to a company release. Under the deal, Cadbury funds Senomyx's research in the area and makes specified payments based upon key milestones. Meanwhile, Senomyx will receive royalty payments based on sales of products employing Senomyx flavor technology. (The deal is similar to the agreement between Senomyx and Ajinomoto.) Cadbury's extensive gum brand holdings include Trident and Dentyne. Senomyx holds flavor agreements with a number of other multinationals, including The Coca-Cola Co., Nestlé, Firmenich and Solae.
