Designer Parfums Looks to the Future with Organizational Changes

Designer Parfums has announced organizational changes that more clearly align with its strategy.

The company is restructuring in an effort to prepare for strategic acquisitions, and to capture additional market opportunities. The goal is to build capabilities to develop brands, accelerate progress in expanding its geographical footprint, streamline operations and further enable opportunities for synergies across businesses.

New Role: Chief Operating Officer

Santiago Alvarez has been appointed to the newly created role of chief operating officer. Alvarez most recently served as global commercial director for niche brands Penhaligon’s and L’Artisan Parfumeur, and has held leadership positions at Puig.

“Santiago understands global sales, go-to-market strategy, brand development and operations, and has a proven track record of capturing the growth potential of beauty brands in multiple distribution channels across diverse geographies,” said Designer Parfums CEO Dilesh Mehta.

Joint Managing Directors

Parag Vidyarthi and Arkesh Shah will serve as joint managing directors. Vidyarthi has been part of the Designer Parfums team for a decade; Shah, who has served as a strategic consultant to the Frédéric Fekkai brand, spent several years in investment banking.

“We are very proud of what our team has accomplished during these years, and their hard work and commitment makes us confident that this group of people, with the right leadership, can take on additional challenges,” said Mehta. “We are delighted to formally bring Arkesh into Designer Parfums having led the acquisition of Playboy and Cerruti, to now oversee their integration into our business.”

Global Marketing Director

In an effort to further develop brands, the company has appointed Pascale Fontaine to the role of global marketing director. She brings more than 20 years of fragrance, makeup and body care experience to the role. She began her career at Unilever and spent 17 years at Coty. Most recently, she served as the global vice president for Adidas Fragrance and Body Care. Said Mehta: “I am pleased to have Pascale on board, and I am convinced she will very soon start contributing to the growth of our brands and our business.”
