Ajinomoto Co. Partners with Gingko Bioworks

Ginkgo Bioworks, a biotechnology company based in Boston, MA, has announced the expansion of its  microbe technology division with Tokyo-based Ajinomoto Co. Inc. Ginkgo Bioworks' microbe designs will expand into Ajinomoto's application sectors, including flavors, fragrance, food ingredients and sweeteners.

Bioworks1, Ginkgo Bioworks' engineering division, uses patented software for microbe design and production, i.e. its recent rose extract optimization. Paired with Ajinomoto Co.’s amino acid applications and technologies, the partnership is expected to expand each company’s product line and profits.
