Name: Maria del Rosario Escobar

Position: Formulations Manager

Company: Robertet Argentina

When did you begin your fragrance journey?

I started working in fragrances when I was 19 years old as a perfumer's assistant at Firmenich. Thanks to Bernardo Conti who was my mentor, here in Argentina—I fell in love!

Then I worked for different local cosmetic and cleaning companies where I learned how to formulate different household and cosmetic products. This experience helped me understand how to use fragrances for good performance.

I also learned chromatography, which helped me to know the composition of natural ingredients. I read many perfumery books as well as Perfumer & Flavorist+ magazine, took courses and smelled everything.

What types of formulations do you work on primarily?

I currently work on fine fragrances for the local Argentine market.

Have you ever attended the World Perfumery Congress before? If so, when and what was your experience?

Yes, I was in Nice in 2018 for the first time, I couldn't believe it! It was exciting to see all of the best perfumers from around the world gathered there. The conferences were better than others and I met many people with a passion for perfumery like me. It was great.

What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming WPC 2024 in Geneva?

While it is my second time attending, I'm just as excited as I was my first. I hope to learn about the future of perfumery and to experience new ingredients.
