On its 10th anniversary in July, celebrated during its annual general meeting at the Palais des Congres in Grasse, France, the European Federation of Essential Oils (EFEO) celebrated its dedication to natural materials and focused on the future of the global F&F ingredient supply chain.
Rémi Pulvérail, purchasing category leader for naturals at Givaudan, presented a talk titled "Paradoxes of Naturals in the Flavors and Fragrances Industry." Pulvérail's talk focused on the sustainability of natural ingredients amidst supply concerns, regulatory pressures, traceability and social responsibility demands, and other factors. "How can our industry face all these challenges when we see the size and the under investment in our supply chains compared to what's happening in the global [agriculture] business?" his presentation asked. "How can our companies innovate and differentiate in the arena of naturals when most of the players stay away/do not invest themselves in the origin countries?"
These and other questions were the focus of a range of experts.
