P&F+
As we begin to close the 2024 business year and look forward to 2025, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you—our dedicated Perfumer & Flavorist+ readers, event attendees and, of course, our customers—who support our mission of education and community-building in the flavor and fragrance industry.
We love this unique and fascinating industry, which Allured Business Media has served for 6+ decades, and are excited for its next phase of growth. In 2025, we’ll be there to bring you every bit of sensory excellence, new innovation, market trends and business news.
As the calendar turns, P&F+ is also moving into a new era, with some exciting new faces.
We are thrilled to have our colleague, Jolly Patel, joining as the new business development manager for P&F+. Jolly comes to us from our sister publication, Cosmetics & Toiletries, a brand that, like P&F+, was launched from The American Perfumer in 1975.
Jolly has immense experience in the beauty and ingredient spheres and has already amassed relationships with a number of companies that supply both F&F and beauty. I am certain he will prove an excellent partner to all of our clients across the globe.
At the same time, Emily Little has joined us as P& F+'s incoming associate managing editor. Emily is an experienced editor and reporter with digital media skills that will serve her well in her new role.
She also has extensive experience in the world of foods and beverages via her time as an editor with the Institute of Food Technologists, where she contributed to online content, podcasts and newsletters.
We can’t wait to share with you the many stories and voices Emily will be bringing to the P&F+ audience in the new year.
These changes are just the latest in a long, storied history for P&F+. My grandfather, Stanley Earl Allured, spun off Perfumer & Flavorist magazine nearly 50 years ago from the former American Perfumer, which itself had been publishing since 1906.
Under his leadership, the publication became a standard-bearer in the industry, driven by his innate curiosity and many, many friendships in the world of flavors and fragrances.
Twenty years ago, Paige Crist joined the publication and, with time, became ingrained in the industry in ways similar to Stanley Allured's original legacy. As the then lead editor of Perfumer & Flavorist+, I saw firsthand how Paige quickly became a fixture at industry events worldwide and built a legacy all her own as a professional and warm personality.
I'm proud to call her my friend, and so it's bittersweet to say goodbye to her. While I am sure her family will be happy to have more of her time and attention, we will miss her—and thank her for all of her many contributions.
Of the change, Paige said, "I am deeply grateful for my past 20 years in the flavor and fragrance industry, a magical journey sparked by Perfumer & Flavorist. It has brought me immense joy, cherished memories, and lifelong friendships. As I say goodbye to this chapter, I carry with me the fondest memories of all the people, places, and experiences that made it unforgettable."
Jenna Troyli, who did an outstanding job steering Perfumer & Flavorist+ through an unprecedented pandemic era, and became, like Paige, a bright light in the F&F world, is also stepping down from her role.
"I am so thankful to Perfumer & Flavorist+ for introducing me to the flavor and fragrance industry,” said Jenna. “Being the conference director of Flavorcon and World Perfumery Congress has certainly been an incredible highlight in my professional career. This is such a beautiful industry and I am so grateful to be part of it, especially by way of the industry staple that is P&F+."
We thank Jenna for working with Emily Little to ensure a smooth transition at the head of the brand and greatly appreciate all of her hard work and the many relationships she's built as the leader of our nearly 50-year-old brand.
Emily and Jolly are already hard at work, learning directly from their predecessors and preparing for the growth to come. We couldn't be more excited for what's next for P&F+ and for the flavor and fragrance industry.
Indeed, this is a dynamic moment for sensory excellence. Rising demand for personal care and beauty products, as well as processed foods and beverages, has propelled the global flavor and fragrance industry to a valuation of about $30.6 billion (2023; Grand View Research), making it a thrilling time for the industry.
Powered by emerging biotech, beautiful natural legacy ingredients, AI-powered tools, a focus on sensory excellence and emotional well-being, and, at the heart of it all, creative curiosity, the world of flavor and fragrance is poised for a new phase of innovation and beauty. And Perfumer & Flavorist+ is going to be there to cover every exciting minute of it.
We can't wait to get started.
