Penta Fine Ingredients has appointed Don Thorp, the former CEO of Prinova, to its board of directors as the specialty ingredient supplier looks to scale its business and evaluate acquisition opportunities.
“Penta has built a remarkable platform with a talented team and a deep customer base," said Thorp. "I’m excited to work alongside the Penta and Keystone teams to help scale the business."
“We are both honored and privileged and to welcome Don to our board of directors,” said Greg Robertson, CEO of Penta Fine Ingredients. “Don brings a proven track record of success in our industry and extensive operational experience leading a global ingredients business”
“Don’s track record in the ingredients industry will be invaluable as we scale the business and pursue long-term value creation,” said Matt DeLong, managing director at Keystone Capital.
Thorp brings more than four decades of experience in the global ingredients sector. He led Prinova from 1995 until his retirement in March 2025, overseeing its evolution from a domestic ingredient distributor into a global supplier serving the food, beverage and nutrition markets.
During his tenure, Prinova grew to more than $1.45 billion in annual sales and expanded its operations across North America, Europe and Asia. The company was acquired by Japan’s NAGASE Group in 2019.
For Penta, Thorp’s addition comes shortly after the company named Greg Robertson as CEO. The board appointment adds experience in scaling ingredient businesses and executing strategic acquisitions as Penta pursues its next phase of growth.
