OQEMA's board of management will be undergoing several changes in 2020.

OQEMA’s board of management will be undergoing changes with the start of the new year: Patrick Barthels, managing director of OQEMA Contract and head of the OQEMA Group’s organic department, will become the OQEMA chairman starting January 1, 2020.

Barthels will be taking over from Heinrich Eckmann and will act as a conventional CSO, which is different from the board’s previous structure which involved two serving co-CEOs. He will deal with all issues pertaining to sales and purchases and the corresponding strategic focuses.

OQEMA’s national subsidiaries and the European business shared functions – organics, inorganics, KAM and specialities – will report to Barthels, who will also remain the managing director of OQEMA Contract in an advisory role.

Additionally, Sabine Mortiz, the former CFO of OQEMA AG, will be leaving the company at the end of her contract. A new CFO with expertise in finance and strategy and a focus on operations and profitability, IT and digital design will begin on May 1, 2020 and Peter Overlack will take on her role in the interim period.

“OQEMA is repositioning itself for the future,” Overlack said. “With the two new board members for finance and sales, we are continuing on a growth course and are preparing for the future. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the two departing board members, Heinrich Eickmann and Sabine Moritz, for their efforts and time they devoted to this company, and for their empathy and cooperation. We wish them all the best.”
