L’Oréal has selected 13 companies from eight countries for the second cohort of its l’AcceleratOR sustainable innovation program, backed by a €100 million commitment to identify, pilot and scale solutions addressing climate, nature and circularity challenges.
The new cohort spans next-generation packaging and materials, ingredients and formulas, industrial processes and data intelligence. Companies include Arda Biomaterials for plant-based leather alternatives; Bormioli Luigi for ultra-light glass packaging; Auressens for recyclable reflective pigments; Newlight Technologies for methane-derived packaging; Bioweg for precision-fermented raw materials; and Envision Energy for renewable-energy-derived green ammonia for hair colorants.
The industrial technology group includes Without, HCpect, MacroCycle, Nexus, Upheat Solutions and Laminar, while Waterplan brings an AI-native approach to water and biodiversity risk management. Notably, the second edition expands into water technology for the first time and broadens the program's geographic reach.
The companies will enter an acceleration phase led by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), with the potential to access L’Oréal resources and develop six- to nine-month pilot projects. Successful solutions could ultimately be scaled across L’Oréal’s international operations.
L’Oréal is also launching Entering l’AcceleratOR, a new docuseries following three companies from the inaugural cohort as they work with L’Oréal teams to move sustainability technologies toward commercialization.
