"Solid Growth" Seen in Sensient Q2 2010 Results

Sensient Technologies Corp. (Milwaukee) has reported second quarter 2010 consolidated revenue of $334 million, up 9.9% from the same period of 2009 ($304 million). This brings the company's first half 2010 revenue to $648.0 million, up 10.4% from 2009's $586.8 million.

The flavor and fragrance group revenue for the second quarter rose 3.8% year-over-year to $205 million. Operating income declined slightly year-over-year to $33.2 million, driven in part by foreign currency comparisons. The group reported strength in the United States, Latin America and Europe. Sensient experienced lower revenue and profit from dehydrated flavors during the period, which were affected by lower pricing related to reduced raw material costs. Second quarter revenue (local currency) for the company's operations in Asia and China grew 21.3%.

Of the results, chairman and CEO Kenneth Manning said, "We saw solid growth across a number of key product lines this quarter. The investments we have made in the business will continue to deliver growth over the remainder of 2010 and beyond."
