Symrise AG (Holzminden, Germany) has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world. The partnership follows an earlier announcement that the company shook hands with the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA).
Members of the United Nations Global Compact, particularly companies and organizations, commit to 10 universally accepted basic principles of sustainable and ethical economic activity such as promoting environmental activities, fighting corruption and banning child labor. Since its inception 12 years ago, the compact has been signed by more than 8,000 companies, including many of Symrise’s customers, investors and suppliers. The members supporting the policy initiative align their business operations and strategies specifically to promote human rights, labor rights, environmental protection and anti-corruption measures.
“We share the principles of the Global Compact and have long lived by them at Symrise with our sustainability vision and strategy," said Symrise CEO Heinz-Jürgen Bertram."Together with other companies, we wish to do our part in making globalization socially and ecologically sustainable."
