The Society of Flavor Chemists (SFC) will meet in Philadelphia on February 12. During the event, Gary Beauchamp, emeritus director and president of the Monell Center, will be installed as an honorary member. Beauchamp's honor recognizes has his authorship of numerous articles on taste and flavor, with research interests including the genetics of taste perception; development of human chemosensory perception and preference; genetics and behavior of individual olfactory identity; and adult human flavor perception.
The meeting will also include presentations by Monell researchers on the latest discoveries in taste and smell. This will be followed by a tour of the facility, as well as a presentation of additions to the SFC flavor library housed at the Center. IFF has donated more than 200 classic flavor books to the library.
