Muguet in perfumery a review of lily of the valley
The odor character of the flowers of lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis L.) is appreciated by almost everyone. An essential oil of the flowers is not commercially available. Therefore, perfumers must create compositions of this odor type based upon their memory of the natural product, using other essential oils and synthetic fragrance materials.

Contribution to the study of the chemical composition of the essential oil from the terminal branches of the cypress tree in the Grasse area
In a previous study of the chemical composition of the essential oil derived from the Algerian cypress, we compared the oil with oil obtained by steam distillation of the terminal branches of cypress trees from the Grasse area. We then noted some differences that affected the relative proportions of certain constituents. The richness in high constituents, in particular, prompted us to begin the study of this higher fraction. Cypress essential oil possesses a dry-down odor which is both woody and amberlike and is greatly appreciated by perfumers; this also makes it worth studying.

The history of lavender oil: Disturbing inferences for the future of essential oils
Whether the user industries will think it worth supporting the production of pure essential oils, this writer cannot tell. Where new sources are concerned it will involve taking up the limited output of the early years while the project grows. But if every user leaves this for someone else to do, it is not difficult to predict the degradation and disappearance of oils that are as good and plentiful today as true lavender was fifty years ago.
