Döhler North America Begins Cartersville Plant Expansion
Döhler North America has begun its Cartersville, Georgia, plant expansion. To mark the initiation of the Cartersville plant expansion, a ceremony was conducted in January designed to signify Döhler's commitment to fortify its presence in the North American flavor industry.
The first phase of the Döhler's expansion of its Cartersville plant is said to not only address immediate growth needs but also lay the foundation for future expansions. The Cartersville facility will host advanced production lines and technological R&D labs, with a specific focus on compounds, liquid Flavors, extractions and syrups.
Brazilian Flavor Producer Duas Rodas Acquires tropextrakt GmbH & Innovation Center
Duas Rodas, a Brazilian multinational producer of flavors, botanical extracts and ingredients for the food and beverage industry, has just acquired 100% of tropextrakt GmbH, a company based in Frankfurt, Germany.
tropextrakt GmbH imports and distributes botanical extracts and a wide variety of natural tropical fruit products, such as purees and concentrated juices, to about 1,000 customers. In addition to supplying fundamental items to the manufacture of food and beverages, tropextrakt operates a laboratory for testing the application of ingredients in the final product. With the acquisition by Duas Rodas, this laboratory will be transformed into an innovation and technology center, which is designed to expand the research and development of products aimed at the supplements and functional food industry.

FlavorSum Announces Completed Michigan Facility Expansion & Forthcoming New Jersey Innovation Center
FlavorSum, a North American flavor producer, debuted its 35,000-square-foot expansion at its Kalamazoo, Michigan, facility. The increased footprint is said to enhance the site’s emulsion, extraction, and warehousing capacity and includes investment in process automation designed to increase efficiency, quality and safety. The on-site Innovation Center’s pilot plant has new UHT and HTST processing capabilities designed to support FlavorSum's Dairy Center of Excellence.
The company is also opening a 10,000-square-foot Innovation Center in Marlton, New Jersey. The center has expanded flavor creation lab, analytical and application spaces to facilitate collaborative sessions with a technical team that has expertise in food and beverage flavor solutions. The New Jersey Innovation Center will also house the Beverage Center of Excellence which features pilot capabilities for carbonation, canning, tunnel pasteurization and hot filling.
