Scent Week Festival Wraps in Los Angeles

On May 9, a conversation between Dana El Masri & Tanaïs As diasporic perfumers of South Asian, North African, Arab and Muslim descent, Tanaïs (In Sensorium: Notes for My People, Studio Tanaïs) and Dana El Masri (Jazmin Saraï) use their perfume lines to honor their olfactory cultures and to challenge the insidious colonizing forces of neo-orientalism.

Leading up to the 9th Annual Art and Olfaction Awards set to be hosted on May 11, the Institute of Art and Olfaction is hosting Scent Week in Los Angeles from May 4-12. Thursday, May 4

SCENT WEEK KICKOFF PARTY: ROOFTOP AT THE ASTER The Scent Week kickoff party is a multi-sensorial soiree on the rooftop of the Aster. Listen to music, mingle with new friends and watch a rooftop screening of Blade Runner (1982) followed by a specially commissioned video produced by Alex The Brown featuring the world's most iconic perfume influencers.

CANDLE WORKSHOP WITH P.F. CANDLE CO.

P.F. Candle Co. founder Kristen Pumphrey teaches container candle-making, walking participants through how to create a custom scent blend using premium fragrance oil, hand pouring techniques, and more.

PERFUMERY WORKSHOP WITH THE IAO The Institute for Art and Olfaction presents a workshop for beginners. Learn the basics of perfumery, the language, taxonomy and important aromatics before blending a small vial of your own scent.

INCENSE CONE WORKSHOP WITH P.F. CANDLE CO.

CONVERSATION: AROMATIC RECKONING AND RADICAL PERFUME PRACTICE A Conversation between Dana El Masri & Tanaïs As diasporic perfumers of South Asian, North African, Arab and Muslim descent, Tanaïs (In Sensorium: Notes for My People, Studio Tanaïs) and Dana El Masri (Jazmin Saraï) use their perfume lines to honor their olfactory cultures and to challenge the insidious colonizing forces of neo-orientalism. In this way, their practices serve as a collection of small, creative acts of aromatic reckoning. Join us for a lively conversation between these two remarkable artists, exploring the perfumes How You Love by Jazmin Saraï and Mala by Tanaïs as an opening to deeper connection.
