Daniel Salvito, RIFM’s director, Environmental Sciences was invited to be a member of the European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals’ (ECETOC) Scientific Committee. Salvito was also asked to co-chair the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry’s (SETAC) Bioaccumulation Science Advisory Group (BSAG).
Since joining RIFM in 1999, Salvito developed the RIFM environmental program. He has initiated methodology research in various environmental media, modeled fragrance material environmental behavior to assess their environmental risk, and participated on European, Canadian and US expert committees. He was selected for a USEPA Science Advisory Board panel on environmental modeling and has structured an “environmental strategy” in conjunction with the independent expert panel (REXPAN) that works with RIFM and the Environmental Task Force, to be used for setting future direction.
