Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities
Creation & Development
- Innovative Fragrance Creation: Develop winning commercial fragrances that set industry standards.
- Cost-Effective Solutions: Design cost-effective versions of fragrances for various applications.
- Fragrance Evaluation: Assess fragrances for sensory appeal, strength, and longevity.
Raw Material Development & Portfolio Management
- Quality Scrutiny: Evaluate internal and external aroma chemicals for quality and application.
- Formulation Decisions: Select raw materials for optimal fragrance formulations.
Managerial & Team Development
- Mentorship: Conduct both structured and on-the-job training for junior perfumers, fostering their technical and creative growth.
Production & Processing
- Efficiency Maximization: Apply knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost management to optimize manufacturing and distribution.
Core Responsibilities
- Olfactory Skills: Possess strong olfactory abilities and experience, extensive knowledge of regulatory affairs, and familiarity with fragrances and raw material analysis (GC and GCMS).
- Portfolio Management: Continuously enrich and adapt your fragrance portfolio for various bases, price points, and norms.
- Spectrum Skills: Demonstrate skills across a spectrum of creation, from technical applications to proactive development.
- Coaching & Mentoring: Mentor junior perfumers in acquiring essential creative and technical skills and support other training initiatives.
- Strategic Guidance: Provide input to Fragrance Ingredients Management, Operations, Purchasing, and Management regarding perfumery needs.
- Representation: Represent the perfumery team in internal and external meetings, forums, and events.
- Fragrance Development: Develop new formulations and modify existing ones to achieve high-quality matches.
- Regulatory Compliance: Manage re-formulations to ensure regulatory compliance and address raw material issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with GC Technicians to deliver excellent fragrance matches.
- Training & Mentorship: Train technical teams and mentor Fragrance Evaluators.
- Industry Knowledge: Maintain intricate knowledge of perfumery raw materials and regulatory affairs.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, fragrance or any other relevant discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years related experience as a perfumer in the Fragrance Industry.
- Demonstrated success in creating a variety of fragrances for different applications (e.g., fine fragrances, personal care, home care).
- Proficiency in using analytical tools like Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to analyze and develop fragrances.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards (e.g., IFRA guidelines, REACH regulations).
- Meticulous attention to detail in the formulation and evaluation of fragrances to ensure consistency and quality.
- Exceptional Olfactory evaluation skills of natural essential oils and aromatic perfumery materials.
- Strong knowledge of raw material composition, chemistry and application technology.
- Expert in multitasking, problem-solving, and time management with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
