Givaudan's new flavor facility in Karachi, Pakistan follows the company's recent openings in Guatemala, Ivory Coast and Algeria. The 800-mfacility will develop halal-certified flavors for snacks, beverages and sweet applications for local customers. As part of Givaudan's 2020  growth strategy, which includes improved sustainability programs, the company aims to invest in high growth markets for the next four years.

Faizan Kalim, commercial director of flavors for Givaudan Pakistan commented, “Givaudan is proud to be the first global flavor company to open in Pakistan. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to regional and local customers to meet the growing needs for innovative products and great taste experiences.”

Givaudan's sales in the Middle East and Africa indicated a slight increase from USD 330 million to 349 million from 2013 to 2015. Yet the region represents a lucrative opportunity for the company to connect with Muslim customers requesting halal-certified products that merge demands for health and faith from their consumers.

The global consumption in flavors and fragrances in the Middle East indicates a mature market; numbers gradually increased from USD 440 million to 500 million from 2013 to 2018.
