US fragrance creators gathered on Capitol Hill to advocate for the industry and its role in the country’s economy before the 115th Congress discusses cosmetic reform.
The group, including the International Fragrance Association North America (IFRANA), spoke of the fragrance industry’s involvement in the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and the impact of other potential tax and regulatory reforms in the works.
The group also prescribed science-based policies that draw off of common sense in order to support consumer choice in the marketplace (as well as to support intellectual property and business development and innovation).
“Our industry supports a diverse group of contributors including agriculture, perfumery, science, sustainability, bio-diversity and small business and large corporations. The process of creating fragrance requires many different steps and support thousands of jobs and livelihoods—fragrance creators spend years crafting scents that enhance lives and use practices that leave the environment in better condition than they found it,” said Farah Ahmed, IFRANA president and CEO.
