Dihydroeugenol Producer Receives Grant

Spero Energy Inc. (West Lafayette, Indiana) has secured a $50,000 grant from Elevate Ventures, a partner of the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

The company's patented technology converts the lignin in wood biomass, which reportedly inhibits biofuel production, into lignin-free cellulose for biofuel production and dihydroeugenol (CAS# 2785-87-7; CAS# 3598) for the F&F industry.

According to an official release, "Spero Energy's technology is based on the work of Mahdi Abu-Omar, the company's president and the Purdue R.B. Wetherill Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The company has secured an exclusive license of the technology through the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization."
