Posted: March 9, 2007
Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) has acquired 100% of the share capital of Steng Ltd. (Eye, Suffolk, England). Steng is a British supplier of herb and spice pastes, stocks, marinades and natural flavorings. In addition, the company produces a range of “clean label” products which are made of natural ingredients. The company was founded in 1990 by Edward Starke and achieved a turnover of 5.4 million Euros in 2006. The Steng product portfolio strengthens Symrise’s competence in the field of culinary applications. The acquisition also provides Symrise with access to new distribution channels in the retail and chilled food sectors and the fast growing market segment of food-service.
Of the acquisition, Symrise global president of flavor and nutrition Heinz-Juergen Bertram said, “By acquiring Steng, we are consistently pursuing our strategy of offering consumers not only a flavor but also an added value: e.g., by making the authentic taste healthier. We call that the power of ‘and.’”
