EFFA REACH Road Map

On Thursday, January 25, 2007, the European Flavor and Fragrance Association (EFFA) issued a road map to facilitate a smooth implementation of the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) legislation recently adopted by the European Parliament.

The REACH Road Map describes the process by which EFFA intends to achieve the objective of coordinating compliance for the fragrance industry, its suppliers and downstream users within the periods allowed for pre-registration and registration. REACH registration applies to existing substances and extends over a period of eleven years after the implementation date of June 1, 2007.

The Road Map (click here to view, 25 pages in length) covers such topics as communication to the membership and downstream users; the REACH Implementation Projects (RIPS); identification of fragrance substances for registration and organization, consortia, suppliers and grouping of substances.

Also, click here to see the EFFA REACH Phase-In Bulletin (7 pages) which provides further guidance and information on the REACH Task Force, Road Map and Time Table of activities for implementation of the legislation. The Phase-In Bulletins will be published quarterly and we will make them available to you. The next bulletin will provide further guidance on pre-registration.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

MJ Marshall
