Canadian Food Labeling to Better Define "Product of Canada," "Made in Canada"

Canada has announced a new food labeling initiative to define "Product of Canada" and "Made in Canada" designations. The proposal would require that "Product of Canada" denote food products for which the vast majority of labor, processing and ingredients be Canadian. The "Made in Canada" label would have no designation as far as ingredients, but would call for the labor and processing to be of Canadian origin. More information on these designations is available here.
