Natural Ingredients in Fragrances Workshop

The Fragrance Materials Association’s (FMA) Fall Workshop and Luncheon covering “Natural Ingredients in Fragrances” will take place October 9 at the Newark Airport Marriott, NJ. The day begins with a registration and continental breakfast at 8:30 AM, followed by Al Bauer’s (Symrise, FMA Education and Program Committee) welcome and opening comments.

Richard Pisano, Sr. (Citrus & Allied Essences, Ltd.) kicks off the program with an historical overview of natural ingredients in the fragrance industry. Daniel Joulain (Robertet) will then touch on the unique characteristics of natural products and their importance to fine fragrance creation. Tim Adams (The Roberts Group) will offer attendees a glance at the regulatory side of things with a science-based procedure for evaluating the safety of essential oils. Nancy Williams (L’Oreal) discusses how these regulations affect product development and launch. Finally, Greg Adamson (Givaudan) will address some of the misperceptions of naturals and provide insight in how to defend naturals from further impact.

At noon, a luncheon will be held with the keynote speaker Yves Calderone (Limited Brands) exploring how consumers’ demand for “greener” products will require new and innovative ways of sourcing, manufacturing and marketing products and fragrances. Bauer will follow lunch at 2 PM with a few closing comments.
