The World Perfumery Congress (WPC)— presented by the American Society of Perfumers and produced by Perfumer & Flavorist+ — is gearing up for the event's return this summer in Geneva, Switzerland! We're excited to announce that fragrance expert and author Michael Edwards to the stage for his session, "The Evolution of American Fragrances." The encapsulating Edwards plans to explore the evolution of American fragrances, from trends and notes, to legends that took the industry by storm.

In 1983, Edwards founded Fragrances of the World, the largest guide to perfume classification that has ever existed. The Fragrance Wheel explains the relationship between innate fragrance preferences and the fragrance families which is updated daily by Edwards and his team of evaluators, the database contains product information on over 36,000 fragrances from around the world, complete with a reference book titled, Fragrances of the World.

The WPC 2024 speaker is also well-known for his books, including Perfume Legends which was first published in 1996 and is said to be one of the most significant books written on modern perfumery as creators, perfumers, couturiers, bottle designers and fragrance house executives spoke openly about their fragrances. The book was revised and updated in 2019, Perfume Legends II presenting new research, images and eight new legends.

Scheduled for June 24-27 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, the event hosts an expo hall, networking opportunities and conference sessions. WPC is the global stage for fragrance creativity, ingredients, technology and business—providing the ideal forum for discussing the industry’s latest issues and breakthroughs.
