Anna Horowitz and Christina Chen have been announced as the 2017 WFFC scholarship winners for fragrance and flavor, respectively.

Pursuing Perfume

Horowitz, receiving the Rita Flynn Memorial Fragrance Scholarship, is attending Brown University and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the science of perfumery. She developed the program with the Brown faculty in order to further pursue her field of interest.

Once she finishes her Bachelor’s, Horowitz plans to pursue a Master’s degree from the ISIPCA in scent design and creation. She has worked an internship for IFF's R&D fragrance portfolio and is also a board member for Brown University students.

Furthering Flavor Education

Chen was awarded the WFFC Flavor Scholarship for her experience in flavor creation, food science and product development. She is attending Cornell University and majoring in food science.

She is also part of an Institute of Food Technologies Student Association team competition that is addressing the development of calcium-rich food products for women living in the Middle East and North Africa. The team also discovered that egg shells could be used for dough in couscous.

Chen is working two consecutive internships at Takasago International Corporation while participating in Cornell University’s dairy products sensory team. Her team was successful and won the 2014-2015 Ocean Spray product development competition.
