Edward Brown

Flavor and fragrance industry fixture Edward Brown has passed away. He was 69.

Brown had a career that lasted more than 40 years and included roles at H. Kohnstamm & Co., International Flavors and Fragrances, and Givaudan. He was a frequent attendee and participant at many industry events, including the Chemical Sources Association (CSA).

A statement from the CSA states:

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Ed Brown. Ed was a dear friend & colleague to many in the flavor & fragrance industry, and served on the board of Chemical Sources Association (CSA) for more than 10 years. Ed was integral in the formation of the CSA Roundtable, serving as a committee member and moderator for many years. He was also very involved in the committees of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), giving his time and energy to the local meetings. Ed kept in touch with many friends through his humorous emails which we all looked forward to. His hard work, kindness and great sense of humor will be sorely missed.

His obituary notes, "Ed embodied the advice he gave his children, to 'Do what you love.' A toastmaster, Ed was a gifted story and joke teller capable of entertaining a room with his wit and humor."

Brown was a friend to the industry and the P&F team. His humor and kindness will be dearly missed.

The obituary announcement further explains, "A viewing will be held on Friday morning, from 9-11am, December 19, at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave, in Roselle Park. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a cause he cared a lot about: Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 or online at www.alz.org/donate."
