Arylessence Inc. (Atlanta) has hired Samantha Shipton-Hill as senior fragrance evaluator. Shipton-Hill has 13 years of experience in the fragrance industry, previously with Flavorchem/Orchidia, AFF International and Belmay Inc. In her new job, Shipton-Hill is responsible for fragrance evaluation and selection in the personal and air care market segments as well as fragrance, trend and market analyses. 

Arylessence Inc. has named Michelle Harper director of fragrance evaluation. Harper has 20 years of experience in the business and nine years as a senior evaluator with Arylessence. Prior to joining Arylessence in 1998, Harper worked for Calvin Klein Cosmetics and ISP Van Dyk. In her new role, Harper’s responsibilities include: managing the evaluators, evaluation laboratory and applications teams; assigning and managing all fragrance projects; conducting fragrance and market trend analysis; forecasting fragrance and product trends; developing new fragrance concepts for perfumers; developing and delivering presentations to key accounts; designing stability tests and panel test protocols for evaluators and perfumers; and supporting key accounts with product formulations and technical expertise. 

In other news, Arylessence CEO Steve Tanner has been named treasurer of the Fragrance Materials Association (FMA) of the United States. Tanner also is chairman of the association’s finance committee and is responsible for the financial requirements of the organization. He has been a member of FMA’s board of directors since 2001.
