George Chapoulie 1922-2006

George Chapoulie passed away on January 11, 2006. Chapoulie began his career in fragrances after immigrating to the United States from France in 1955. He started at Descollonges Freres and SB Penick & Co. before embarking on a distinguished 17-year career with Lever Brothers. There, he developed fragrances for Dove soap, Caress, Lifebuoy and the Close Up flavor, just to name a few. After his retirement from Lever Brothers, he worked with Roure Bertrand Dupont and then moved on to develop the perfumery lab for Intarome. Chapoulie ended his career with Aveda, developing their in-house perfumery, creating the natural line of Chakra fragrances, and formulating many other natural perfumes. While retired, he continued to formulate fragrances in his home lab.

His passion for fragrances, life and family left an indelible impact wherever he went. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline, sons Patrick and Philip, four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He will be missed by both family and friends.
