The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) announced Dennis Griesling is retiring as its vice president of government affairs, following 22 years of acting as the organization’s top lobbyist. Replacing him will be Douglas Troutman, who has been named the ACI’s vice president and counsel, government affairs, effective January 30.
“The cleaning products industry has never had a more effective legislative and regulatory advocate than Dennis Griesling,” said Ernie Rosenberg, ACI president and CEO. “With great success, he shared ACI’s policy positions with members of Congress, executive branch officials, state legislators and regulators. ACI and our members are extraordinarily grateful to Dennis for his outstanding work on behalf of our industry.”
Rosenberg added that “ACI is extremely fortunate to have Doug Troutman as our new vice president and counsel of government affairs. He brings to the table years of experience on Capitol Hill and in the trade association sector. Doug will continue to be a very knowledgeable and resourceful advocate for the cleaning products industry in the years ahead.”
Troutman joined ACI in 2007 as director of government affairs, coming from Underwriters Laboratories Inc., where he was senior manager, legislative affairs. He previously worked as senior manager, government relations, at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and was a legislative aide to Senator Arlen Specter (PA) from 1992 to 1996. He has also worked as associate vice president at Newmyer Associates in Arlington, Virginia and served as a law clerk in the Delaware County, Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Office.
