OQEMA Group has announced its acquisition of Danish chemical distributor Chemark ApS, which has been active on the Nordic distribution market for around 20 years.

Chemark, which focuses on solvents, is a positive addition to the OQEMA portfolio in the paint and coatings, pharmaceuticals, cleaning agents and household, industrial and institutional (HI&I) sectors. The annual turnover is currently around €40 million.

Anders Englund and Peter Nielsen, Chemark managing director who have served in their roles for the past 12 years and will continue to manage the company in the future stated: “Our roots are medium-sized and are based in the family. We are certain that OQEMA can take up this impulse–and that we will be spared the mistakes that occur when you sell your company to a group.”

“Of course, Chemark's sales are only manageable in view of the Scandinavian market as a whole,” OQEMA CEO Peter Overlack said. “What convinces us are the quality of the business, the quality of the management—and the location in the greater Copenhagen area, which offers an excellent base of operations for expansion into Sweden, Finland and Norway. The company has already spread its feelers to neighboring markets. We will be happy and committed to develop this further.”
