A recent study by the Hartman Group has found that 48% of consumers are seeking products labeled “plant-based.” This has companies striving for transparency, sustainability and innovation when it comes to their plant-based offerings and future goals.

Here are some of the latest headlines in plant-based news:

Ardian, a private investment house, has acquired a majority stake in Florida Food Products. The company’s products replace traditional, synthetic ingredients with natural, plant-based alternatives.

In DSM’s restructuring of its businesses, its Food & Beverage business group will focus on developing sustainable taste, texture and health solutions, with a portfolio including CanolaPRO, a plant-based alternative protein.

Givaudan announced the opening of a new Protein Hub in Switzerland, allowing for customers, start-ups, academics, chefs and other partners to co-create plant-protein experiences.

Kerry has acquired Niacet, cost-effective, low-sodium preservation systems for meat and plant-based food, with a range that includes both conventional and clean label solutions.

Symrise has reinforced its taste solutions for plant protein products. The company is addressing the changing attitudes towards meat and traditional dairy products based on health motivations, the growing popularity of flexitarian diets and a desire to benefit the environment by feeding the world’s population responsibly.
