Evonik Appoints Azelis to Distribute "Green" Aroma Extracts

Evonik has appointed Azelis to distribute “green” aroma extracts in the U.K., Ireland, Italy and selected Central and Eastern European countries.

“We believe that with Azelis in the assigned countries, we will have improved market coverage supported by a new sales organization, offering customers sound commercial solutions combined with a high level of local technical support,” said André Aguiar, Evonik’s account and marketing manager Europe.

Azelis is now able to offer Evonik’s aroma extracts in the U.K. and Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Finland, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia Belarus, Croatia, Serbia and Russia. The agreement complements already existing agreements between the two companies across a number of industry disciplines in Europe and Asia.

Evonik’s aroma extracts use a process known as supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), which is an environmentally friendly extraction technique that helps to preserve the genuine flavor profile and reduces the loss of valuable flavor compounds from the original raw material. It also extends the ingredient’s shelf life, which also needs less stabilization due to the gentle treatment. Evonik’s aroma extracts can be used as building blocks for compounded flavors for food in general and beverages, dairy, confectionery and bakery, in particular.

“We are excited to be working together with Evonik offering this innovative range of top-quality aroma extracts, that meet our customers' and today’s consumers' needs for unadulterated, clean, healthy and tasty foods,” said David Gray, international business director for Azelis Food and Health. “We will provide unrivaled sales support, offering help and advice on applications, legislation, marketing insights as well as a streamlined sampling service."

Gray added, “We regularly invite customers into our development kitchens that are conveniently located throughout Europe and will be pleased to work with them on projects around these exciting new materials.”
