Brenntag (Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany) has agreed to acquire the Swedish chemical distributor Fred Holmberg & Co AB (Malmö, Sweden)
Fred Holmberg is focused on the distribution of organic and inorganic chemicals in Scandinavia and provides mixing and blending activities. The main site is located in Kalmar in the south-east of Sweden, with filling lines for packaging goods and directly connected to the harbor.
The acquired business is expected to generate total sales of about 75.3 million euros in 2014. The transaction is expected to be closed during the first quarter of 2015.
This month, Brenntag announced plans to acquire Specialty Chemicals Provider SurtiQuímicos S.A. to build its foothold in the Latin American market. It also has recently acquired Pioma Chemicals to expand its presence in India and Italian food ingredients supplier Chimab.
