Brenntag Forms Brenntag Flavor & Fragrance Ingredients Unit

Brenntag has formed an aroma chemical and essential oil division, Brenntag Flavor & Fragrance Ingredients (BFFI), and named William "Bill" Ludlum as the unit's new global commercial director.

In order to enter into the F&F ingredients area, Brenntag decided to partner with Amco Internacional acquiring it in January of 2012, and thus creating its aroma chemical and essential oils division, named BFFI.

Ricardo Amper, previous CEO of Amco, is globally responsible for this business. Amco is an info-chemical company supplying the food, flavors and fragrances industries in Mexico and Latin America. By developing special systems and algorithms, Amco, now BFFI, is able to source and manufacture high quality, specialized products at lower costs while delivering unique value added services to its customers. BFFI said its goal is to leverage Brenntag's global supply chain, sales network and financial resources to deliver aroma chemicals globally with local service and competitive pricing.

The company said it will offer a new level of customer service and innovative logistic options that help customers acquire products with close to source pricing, but without the risk, complexity and working capital investment. Besides this close to customer inventory option, BFFI is innovating by allowing customers to place orders for mixed full containers from Asia at very low prices, with a quality guarantee.

Today, BFFI is operating in the United States, Mexico and Brazil. Ludlum is a key member of the management team and will be working closely with the Brenntag's North America, North East and Latin America commercial teams to better serve customers. He will be responsible for all commercial aspects of BFFI's product line which includes: food, color, flavor, fragrance and cosmetic ingredients.

During Ludlum's tenure in the flavor, fragrance, food and cosmetic businesses, he has worked at Givaudan, Symrise (formerly Haarmann & Reimer and a Bayer AG Affiliate), Frutarom North America and Berjé Inc. He has a commercial and operational background with positions held in material management, purchasing, sales, marketing, manufacturing and senior management.

BFFI anticipates that Ludlum will allow the company to focus and expand its efforts on key account management, supply chain optimization and product development.
