The November 23 issue of The New Yorker magazine features "The Taste Makers," a feature story about flavorists and flavor chemistry. Available only as an abstract online, the subscription-only article declares, "The consumption of food flavorings is one of the modern era's most profound collective acts of submission to illusion."
