Symrise Targets Citrus with New Facility

Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) has broken ground for the construction of the company's new global citrus center in Sorocaba, Brazil. With the new facility, Symrise will expand its expertise in the field of natural citrus flavors. The new location benefits from proximity to areas where citrus fruits are grown, along with the combination of work both from the company's own basic research and from in-house technologies. Over the course of two construction phases, Symrise will be creating 30,000 m2 of new facilities to house the development and application technologies divisions, as well as pilot plants for a variety of processing technologies. In addition, Symrise will make an investment mid-year that will increase spray-drying capacity at its existing site in Brazil.

Of the new center, Symrise global president of flavor and nutrition Heinz-Juergen Bertram said, "The global citrus center is evidence that we have big plans. We see this as the start of our international citrus offensive. We've been experts on citrus flavorings for decades now, and with this experienced, dedicated team, we're going to continue our success story and build on it. Brazil is the perfect site for our core citrus competency."
