SAFC Custom Manufacturing and Services Unit Consolidates Chiral Activities

Sigma-Aldrich Corp.'s custom manufacturing and services business unit for the production of enantiomerically pure compounds for the flavor and fragrance industries now features consolidated chiral chromatography screening and small scale purification operations at its Pharmorphix Solid State Research Laboratories in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

The facility will offer chiral gas chromatography and liquid chromatography separations. The chiral screening operation will continue to support the analytical chiral column business and will draw upon Supelco’s analytical expertise to complement the solid-form characterization and research services already located at the Cambridge site.

The new laboratories are expected to be validated and fully operational in July 2012.

Paul Rodwell will lead the chiral chromatography method development team. He was previously a senior principal scientist with Pfizer.
