IFF's Novel Fragrance Project

IFF perfumer Christophe Laudamiel and partner Christophe Hornetz have created a fragrance for the 2008 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The scent was dispersed in conference spaces via aroma dispensers. WEF requested a scent that would "help inspire global economic solutions."

Laudamiel participated in last year's WEF event, presenting a seminar on fragrances. This was the basis of this year's collaboration in developing “a new world odor.” Laudamiel and Hornetz worked for six months on the “air sculpture,” seeking to evoke a range of complex concepts: cooperation, high tech, optimism and endangered polar regions.

”Even though Davos has a very corporate image, it is looking to the future and the world of olfaction, of smell and perfumery is part of the future," said Laudamiel.
