Fragrance Foundation Announces Monetary Award For Indie FiFi

The Fragrance Foundation announced Givaudan has donated a check for $10,000 to be awarded to the winner of the Indie FiFi Award, which will be presented a ceremony during the Elements Showcase at in late January 2012.

“We are delighted to support this Foundation initiative,” commented Cosimo Policastro, Givaudan’s executive vice president, fine fragrances. “[We are] especially pleased to provide an extra measure of encouragement to these talented, creative free spirits. We admire their entrepreneurial skills in balancing business with much passion and love of the art form that is fragrance.”

Submission forms for the Indie FiFi Award are to be posted in early October on sites including www.fragrance.org and www.elements-showcase.com, and submission will be due by late November. The entry fee will be $200 per entry, and to be eligible for the Indie FiFi Award, a brand must be an established brand that has been on the market for at least two years and must be sold in 1–50 doors, including online. Also, the brand must be independent, not owned or distributed by a large company.

Judging for the category will then take place in New York in early January, and amongst the committee members selecting judges for the for the Indie FiFi Award are Mandy Aftel of Aftelier Perfumes; Arnaud Adrian of Robertet; Rochelle Bloom of The Fragrance Foundation; Frederick Bouchardy of Joya Studio; Karl Bradl of Aedes de Venustas; Virginia Bonofiglio of the Fashion Institute of Technology; Denise Capozzalo of Barneys; Rodrigo Flores-Roux of Givaudan; Victoria Frolova of Bois de Jasmin; Mary Ellen Lapsansky of The Fragrance Foundation; Carrie Meredith of Eyeliner on a Cat; and Ralf Schwieger of Mane.
