The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, Inc. has published its health and human safety findings for two fragrance ingredients, macrocyclic and cinnamyl phenyl propyl. The data is part of a larger report on macrocyclic ketones, macrocyclic lactones and lactides, and cinnamyl phenyl propyl that was published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology in December 2011.
The group found that both substances are safe for use in consumer goods. They are frequently used in cosmetic, personal care, household, air care and other applications. At current levels of use, both are practically nonirritating, have low sensitization potential no genotoxicity potential and have a low risk of repeat dose toxicity.
