EPA's DfE Program Proposes Enhancements for Standard for Safer Products

The U.S. EPA’s DfE Program recently proposed to adopt enhancements for its Standard for Safer Products. The changes aim to enhance the clarity and protectiveness of the DfE Standard and Labeling Program. The new areas include adding a new provision on ingredient disclosure, as well as a newly added provision for formulations designed for prolonged dermal contact. Changes to existing areas include requirements for passing score in standardized performance tests and benchmarks for particular products and ingredients, as well as requirements for sustainability levels and limited VOCs; a clarification of a flammability provision; and requirements for enzymatic materials in labeled products. More information on the proposed enhancements is available here.
