Market Research Future has released a report forecasting the future of the global kombucha market, which indicates growth through 2023.

Leading the growth in this category is consumers’ interest in health and wellness products, along with an increased demand for natural ingredients. The “wellness-on-the-go” concept has further boosted the demand for kombucha and fermented flavors, spurred by on-the-go millennials.

Regions that will see particularly strong growth include U.S. and European regions, where innovation and research will propel the growth. Additionally, the supply of kombucha has increased due to formulation and particle size reduction technologies, attributing to the overall growth.

The report also indicated some of the changes that have impacted the global kombucha market, which include:

  • November 2017: Suja Life LLC introduces berry, peach, ginger and green kombucha flavors of its organic kombucha line.
  • August 2017: Fermented probiotic and kombucha beverages company Kevita, Inc. expands kombucha portfolio of organic kombucha teas, which include roots beer and blueberry basil.
  • November 2016: Pepsi enters an agreement to acquire KeVita.
