New Canadian Organic Label

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has launched its new organic logo, which will be featured on products certified as at least 95 percent organic. The label, which depicts a rising Canadian maple leaf and bilingual terms for organic ("organic" and "biologique"), will be phased in over time, becoming mandatory for all organic-claiming products by December 2008. According to the Agency's statement, more than 40 other countries have organic regulations in place, defending consumers from false claims and making these products competitive on the world stage.
