Retired American Cleaning Institute president & CEO Ernie Rosenberg was honored with the ACI Chairman’s Award during the organization’s 2018 annual meeting and industry convention.

Rosenberg was recognized for “outstanding leadership of the association for the cleaning product supply chain.” In 2000, he led the company’s move from New York City to Washington and strengthened its scientific, advocacy, communications and outreach teams.

He also spearheaded the development of the company’s core set of sustainability principles, programs and public reports, making it one of the first industry organizations in the country to do so. Rosenberg oversaw the company’s transition from SDA to the American Cleaning Institute, a name which better reflects its overall operations.

“The organization that was SDA and became ACI flourished under Ernie Rosenberg’s leadership,” said Rutger Beelaerts, general manager, Intermediates Americas, Shell Chemical LP and chair of ACI’s board of directors. “The foundation of ACI became stronger thanks to Ernie’s dedication and stewardship over 17 years and building a terrific staff that is at the core of ACI’s success over the years. The Chairman’s Award recognizes those contributions.”
