Edward W. "Ed" Onyskow, Senior Flavor Chemist, Dies at 84

Edward W. "Ed" Onyskow, an emeritus member of the Society of Flavor Chemists, died on March 30, 2013. He was 84. 

Born in Bayonne, N.J., Onyskow attended Bayonne High School. He graduated from Seton Hall University and also attended Stevens Institute of Technology. Onyskow worked as a senior flavor chemist at Fritzche Dodge & Olcott in New York for more than 27 years, followed by work at Takasago International Corporation in Teterboro, N.J. He also worked briefly as a consultant at Frutarom in North Bergen, N.J.

Onyskow was a corporal in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, serving in Germany, and received an honorable discharge. He was an emeritus member of the Society of Flavor Chemists and an emeritus member of the Knights of Columbus South Amboy Council No. 426. 

A funeral was held on Friday, April 5 at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main St., South Amboy, N.J. Mass was held at the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy. Interment is at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, N.J.
