Givaudan has announced that Calice Becker will be the director of the Givaudan Perfumery School. The school, formed by Jean Carles in Grasse, France is celebrating its 70th anniversary. The perfumers that graduated from the school have created more than one third of the fragrances on the market.

Educating the Future of Perfumery

Becker will lead and train the future perfumery students and will continue to create fragrance for select customers. She joined Givaudan in 2007 as vice president of perfumery and worked in Paris and New York City. She has also created Dior J’adore, Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl, Marc Jacobs Lola and most of the By Kilian collection over the years as a perfumer.

An alumni of the Givaudan Perfumery School, Becker is also inspired by music, painting and sculpting to draw inspiration for her creations.

Maurizio Volpi, president of the fragrance division, said, “Calice is an exceptional perfumer and will be a great mentor for our students. Having her leading the Perfumery School will give us the capacity and flexibility to fulfill the three missions of the Perfumery School: develop Givaudan’s future perfumery talent; train our internal staff; and train our customers.”
