In March, the members of the Deutscher Verband der Riechstoffhersteller (DVRH)—the German association of the fragrance industry—elected Wolfgang Blume (vice president of sales for central Europe fragrances, Symrise) president for the next three years. After serving as president for eight years, Horst-Otto Gerberding has turned the position over to Blume. The office of president traditionally falls to a representative of the largest fragrance manufacturer represented in the association, which meant that as in previous years, someone from Symrise GmbH & Co. KG was elected.
As the new president of the DVRH, Blume wants to focus on continuity and transparency to maintain the trust of the association and win new members. “Of course we have to take new paths to make the association even more appealing,” explained Blume. “We are trying to make the association the key point of contact in the industry as a way of drawing in as many new members as possible.”
